This unique cushion is created using a vintage Hmong textile. Known by the Hmong as Mangx (Tama, T’ma), the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa L.) has long been a part of their culture, however it remains uncertain as to when it first appeared. What is well established is that the Hmong have utilized hemp fiber since approximately 3000 B.C.E. and have mastered the art of hemp weaving combined with the use of natural dyes. Throughout their history the hemp plant and hemp weaving has been an indispensable part of Hmong culture.
